Scripture
Luke 2:21-38
  • Those who stay expectant are the ones who get to experience Jesus.

Obeying the Word (2:21-24)

  • You don’t have to be clueless where God has clearly given His commands (21-22).
  • Faithful parents seek to cooperate with God’s calling, not work against it (23).
  • Don’t let what you can’t do excuse you from what you can do (24).

Following the Spirit (2:25-35)

  • Those who slow down with God often experience what others rush past (25).
  • The Holy Spirit leads expectant people to the right place at the right moment (26-27).
  • How you respond to Jesus reveals more about you than about Him (28-35).

Persisting in Prayer (2:36-38)

  • Lingering obedience creates lasting opportunities (36-37).
  • Prayer cultivates in us a longing for what truly matters (37).
  • A grateful heart can’t stay silent about Jesus (38).

  • Don’t substitute for the Substitute.
