Delayed Obedience Is Disobedience
Several people wanted to follow Jesus later, but He called for immediate commitment. When God calls, “later” is simply another way of saying “no.”

Delayed Obedience Is Disobedience

Three Ministry Excuses
- Comfort (Luke 9:57-58)
- Delay: Some postpone following Jesus until the conditions are comfortable.
- Danger: If your physical comfort outweighs others' spiritual needs, you'll always find a reason to disobey.
- Commitments (Luke 9:59-60)
- Delay: Some postpone following Jesus until they've fulfilled their other responsibilities.
- Danger: Jesus knows when our respectable reasons are actually rebellious excuses.
- Connections (Luke 9:61-62)
- Delay: Some postpone following Jesus because they struggle to put Christ's calling ahead of their closest relationships.
- Danger: Any relationship that sidetracks you from Christ’s calling has become a hindrance rather than a help.
- Don’t put off until tomorrow what Jesus has called you to do today.
Three Ministry Responses
- Personal – Every Christian is called to take personal responsibility for Kingdom activity.
- Intentional – Some of us need to step up into a defined, consistent ministry responsibility.
- Vocational – Some of us need to surrender our plans and answer the Spirit’s call to vocational ministry.
- Not everyone is called to make a living through ministry, but every Christian is called to a life of ministry.
