A Glimpse of His Glory
Jesus was transfigured before His disciples, revealing His divine glory. One present glimpse of His glory can keep you faithful through upcoming trials.
Observations
- Jesus gives us glimpses of His glory to prepare us for seasons of suffering (9:27-28).
- Jesus’ glory does not come and go; our awareness of it does (9:29).
- What the Law and the Prophets foretold, Jesus came to fulfill (9:30-31).
- How tragic to be awake to our physical wants and asleep to our spiritual needs (9:32).
- Don’t treasure an experience with Jesus more than Jesus Himself (9:33).
- The glory that captures our attention should command our obedience (9:34-35).
- The same Jesus who meets us on the mountain walks with us through the valley (9:36).
Applications
- The One at the center of God’s story deserves more than a supporting role in yours.
- Pray with the expectation that Jesus can interrupt the familiar with something unforgettable.
- Don’t become so dependent on extraordinary experiences that you neglect everyday obedience.
