Check Yourself First
Jesus warned against hypocritical judgment. If you want to help others see clearly, you must first deal with your own blind spots.
- Before you correct someone else, check yourself first.
Check Your Standard First (6:37-38)
- Don’t be hypercritical of others.
- Be the kind of person who helps people up, not holds them down.
- The measure you use will be used on you.
Check Your Sight First (6:39-40)
- Don’t be uncritical of yourself.
- Ignoring your blind spots will cause others to stumble.
- Where you end up depends on who you choose to follow.
Check Your Sin First (6:41-42)
- Don’t be hypocritical when addressing sin.
- Jesus doesn’t forbid judgment; He forbids hypocrisy.
- You can’t help someone else with their sin until you’re honest about your own.
