Scripture
Luke 6:37-42
  • Before you correct someone else, check yourself first.

Check Your Standard First (6:37-38)

  • Don’t be hypercritical of others.
  • Be the kind of person who helps people up, not holds them down.
  • The measure you use will be used on you.

Check Your Sight First (6:39-40)

  • Don’t be uncritical of yourself.
  • Ignoring your blind spots will cause others to stumble.
  • Where you end up depends on who you choose to follow.

Check Your Sin First (6:41-42)

  • Don’t be hypocritical when addressing sin.
  • Jesus doesn’t forbid judgment; He forbids hypocrisy.
  • You can’t help someone else with their sin until you’re honest about your own.
