The Future of M2

BECOME A SENDING CHURCH

• Antioch was a healthy, diverse church with gifted leaders actively serving together (13:1).
• Their attention was first directed toward the Lord through worship, prayer, and fasting (13:2).
• The Holy Spirit called Barnabas and Saul from fruitful ministry in Antioch to gospel ministry elsewhere.
• The church was willing to release gifted people rather than keep everything God had given them for themselves.
• They prayed, fasted, commissioned them, and sent them out (13:3).
• What God was doing in Antioch became the foundation for what He would do through Antioch.

A healthy church does not exist merely to gather more people. It equips more people to go.

REMEMBER WHY WE COMMITTED

Today we made commitments, but our commitments are not the destination.

We are not sacrificing simply to construct a building, increase attendance, or make church more convenient.

We want to create greater capacity to:

• Reach people who need the gospel.
• Disciple believers toward maturity.
• Develop and deploy leaders.
• Strengthen and multiply healthy churches.
• Send and support missionaries.
• Prepare another generation to continue the work.

We maximize the campus so we can mobilize the church.

LOOK BEYOND M2

M2 is a significant season, but it should serve a mission that outlives this campaign.

• We want the new Sanctuary filled with people who are being equipped and sent.
• We want Recommission churches strengthened and multiplying throughout our community.
• We want more members discovering their responsibility for Kingdom activity.
• We want children and students growing up with an expectation that God may send them anywhere.
• We want future generations to inherit a church positioned to sacrifice and send just as previous generations did for us.

The success of M2 will not ultimately be measured by what we build but by whom we send.

THE FUTURE OF M2

For six weeks, we have considered how to:

Mobilize the church. Maximize the campus.

• The commitments have been made, but now the work continues.
• May we become the kind of church that is strong enough to send, generous enough to release, and faithful enough to prepare the next generation to do the same.
• We must not just reach people; we must disciple them.
• We must not just start churches; we must strengthen them.
• We must not just send missionaries; we must support them.
• The job of a disciple is incomplete until maturity is reached.
• The job of a church is incomplete until the community is changed.
• The job of the mission is incomplete until all have heard the gospel.
