2025 College Commissioning
During the summer months, college students are uniquely positioned to make a profound and lasting impact for the Kingdom. With increased availability and energy, they can dedicate time to sharing the Gospel and discipling others. During this year’s commissioning, students were reminded of three right responses:
Walk in Obedience to Your Call.
Matthew 28:19-20 provides the reminder that all Christians are called to share the gospel, to baptize converts, and to disciple believers. Students were reminded to walk in obedience to that directive and to remember that they never walk the road alone. The Lord is always near.
Prepare for Your Task.
1 Peter 3:15 reminds believers to “Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope you have.” Preparation involves both pre-work and right-now-readiness to move into action.
Ask God to Supply the Increase.
Paul, as the master missionary, knew and stated in 1 Corinthians 3:6 that “(He) Paul planted, Apollos watered, and God was the one providing the growth.” Students were reminded that it is God who does the work of salvation, and we are simply a tool He uses in the process. Pray and ask God for a rich harvest summer harvest.
Reminders for the Church as We Commission Students:
1. Continue to disciple preschoolers, children, and students who might one day be the next commissioned out by our church to be on mission.
2. Continue to celebrate and pray for missionaries and college students who have already been sent to serve.
3. Follow in obedience and allow the examples of our college students to prompt you to consider serving on the mission field.
Please pray for the 22 students who were commissioned to serve during the summer of 2025.
