Understanding Forgiveness

The subject of forgiveness is a necessary one for Christians to wrestle with. Our entire faith is based on forgiveness. Yet, this subject can also feel hazy and directionless at times. What does forgiveness entail? What does it look like? Can it go too far?

Other questions this seminar will address include:

  • What is the biblical basis for forgiveness? How does this differ from worldly perspectives on forgiveness?
  • How is God’s forgiveness of us meant to spill over into our forgiveness towards other people?
  • What if I don’t feel like forgiving? Is it ok for this to feel hard?
  • Myths of forgiveness (e.g., forgiveness equals forgetting or reconciliation)
  • What exactly are we promising to do when we forgive someone?
  • What exactly am I committing to do when I request forgiveness for wronging someone?
  • What do I do with memories of wrongs done against me?

Please join us on November 12 from 6:00–8:30PM in the Multipurpose Room for this valuable opportunity to deepen your understanding of God’s grace and the life-changing practice of forgiveness. Please register by November 9 so we can prepare materials and seating.
